Locavore, Club 299, June 30th

As the night approaches 9 o'clock i rush upstairs to see Locavore live for the first time. I go to the bar to buy a drink as they start their set behind me. As i hear the first noises coming from the stage, my attention is completely drawn. Guitarists Jethro Herman and Dan Parkinson are creating a perfect blend between their guitar parts and there's no dominating sound, just a well balanced and smooth melody loaded with many effects.Drummer Ross delivers a tight and punchy drum beat which might have been way too loud for the venue, so sound techs, take note. Bass player Victoria Jenkins is a pleasure to watch - mixing growling punchy bass lines with gentle high notes, reminding of Karnivool's John Stockman.

Last but not least, recently joined vocalist William Joseph Herman is a frontman with a skill rarely seen in young performers. Looking around me I can see all eyes on him as the crowd is listening carefully and watching his every move as he dances around the stage.Twisting his body to the music, he delivers a beautiful crystal clear vocal tone which combined with the vocal harmonies of guitarist Jethro Herman and bassist Victoria Jenkins turns into an exceptionally diverse and very interesting blend. The band had amazing stage presence and despite the quiet night they delivered a tight and very impressive set which made me want to see them again and again.

Every song of the set is different than the one before, but Locavore do have a distinct sound. Mixing Progressive Rock with Alternative and even metal at times, as well as moving and creative lyrics, their music is deep and honest and i guarantee you, after seeing them live, you will leave the show with at least one song stuck in your head.

Locavore are playing at Club Envy on 9th of July , i recommend you not to miss it!
