Last ever LIVE @ THE ROLLING ROCK. A HUGE thanks to Mic Ireland for everything. An awesome job you're doing for us pretentious, and sometimes autistic, arty farty musos. Thanks mate. If it wasn't for people like you and Rhys and Rohan at The Point, we'd be sitting in our bedrooms playing to the wall. Another equally massive thanks to Zac the sound guy for all the awesome hard work and great sound.
Bloodspots
This two piece had a gritty raw sound that reminded me of late night blurry Rage clips of old English punk bands, perhaps even a certain Australian one - The Saints. All the necessary ingredients were there - cranked Fender amp, driving simple and powerful drum beats and vocals with attitude. A busted string in the first song set the tone for the performance, with each song beginning with barely a breath in between. Bloody good stuff!!!
Electrik Dynamite
There once was a mummy and a daddy. The mummy's name was IRON MAIDEN and the daddy's name was KISS. They fell in love and had a baby and named the little dear ELECTRIK DYNAMITE. When ELECTRIK DYNAMITE hit puberty, the little darling started experimenting with drugs and began to inject DISCO TEX AND HIS SEXOLETS into her veins. Then ELECTRIK DYNAMITE learnt the guitar and went on tour to show off her crazy big hairstyle and acrobatic tricks.
Performance - Electrik Dynamite combined all the entertaining elements from the above mentioned and wrapped them up in a 6 piece package of pure fluorescent hilarity. The stringed instruments were all on wireless rigs. Occasionally the guitarists would disappear for half a song, only to re-appear through the front door of the venue from outside, run up to the back of the club, do a somersault over the lounge suite, skid over a table and bounce back down to the stage area. I swear these guys ran about 28kms each during their set.
Musically - lots of dual harmonising guitars, 3rds and 5ths bouncing all over the shop, intertwined with spacey keys and metal disco drumming topped off with wailing Bruce Dickinson style vocals. Considering how active these guys (and gal) were, the actual playing of their instruments was great - hats off to the drummer for holding it all together.

Well, I thought I'd review my own performance. Hope you don't mind.
Had a quick sound check - all good. Started off my intro thingie and kicked into The M Room. Had to move a bit around and find the right spot for foldback mix. Sounding pretty good from where I'm standing. Thank goodness for ear plugs!
Bashed through Enigma Miss, Green Surf and The Leather Muppet no worries. Time for Lasagne Man. This puppy is a killer if you're not warmed up. The outro nearly got me with fatigue in the right hand - 16ths @ 190bpm, inside outside alternate picking, fluctuating between the natural aeolian mode of Bmajor and the augmented locrian, with a 5th harmony for 16 bars followed by a minor 6th harmony for another 16. Big cheer at the end, must have nailed it.
On to Point Lookout. A big epic. 12 and half minutes of guitar indulgence. Got to the end, and once again, a tricky outro harmonising riff finishing with a sharp 16th. Big cheer. Drink of water. Pack up, watch the next band.
