Technical Symplicity
We walked in quite literally as Technical Symplicity were counting in their first song of their set. There weren't many people inside, but as the big fat sound of Tech Sym wandered out into the Noosa evening, people started appearing inside. By the end of the second or third song the place had a good crowd going. This is testament to the fantastic unique sound of the band - to me, a hybrid sound of prog rock and California punk.
Tight drumming paired with huge bass riffs and lush overdriven guitar gave the vocals a great bed to dance melodically about on, and occasionally blast out a paint stripping scream.
Physically, these guys are great. Very entertaining to watch. Lots of jumping about and 'ead bangin'. I thought the guitarist was going fall over over on his amp in the last song!
Great music, great gig and great guys. I hope to gig with you soon!
Dawn Heist
I'm glad Dawn Heist stopped in on our little patch of the woods on their tour. What a beast! These guys punched out some mean heavy grooves that got me moving in my seat.
These guys have a very unique tone about them with great detuned riffage and gutteral vocals. The singer reminded me a bit of Alexi Sayle for some reason, I think it was his animated performance :)
Anyway, I hope they return to the Sunshine Coast, because I'd love to see them again.
Inhailed
Awesome aggressive metal the way it should be. These guys produced a sound that was not unlike being gutted with a chainsaw. In fact, I swear I saw a chainsaw fly out of one of the amps :)
Seriously, a huge wall of sound full of energy made this set an impressive 45mins of extreme music. All the required elements for metal appeared - a drummer with quick feet, ballsy bass, lightning fast guitar riffs and ear bleeding vox.
I look forward to seeing them again!
*Ed's Note - Rob mentioned that he didn't get to stick around for the last band, Simiadei from NSW, but from all reports they were brutal.
