Most of us from Sunshine Coast bands showed up about 8pm and Harmony Monica were going off, the sound was good and to my surprise there was 30 or so people up the front having a mosh, which was good to see considering it was only around 8pm but saying that there was about 100 people there already (good support).
Unfortunately I missed pretty much the whole set of Harmony Monica because they must’ve started at 7.30pm but from what I saw at the end was pretty good and I’m sure next time I won’t miss them.
Next up were Myrtle Place and as I play bass for them at present I was rushed on the stage 5 mins of showing up to start ... I must say I thought the boys played really good and the bass - LOL - and they had a good crowd support ..half were out in the smoking area but nothing was stopping the boys from pulling a tight set of punk to the few left at the front of the stage ,and as we keep playing more were coming in to check out the set –best song –scott-rush…from what I saw great feedback of clapping from that one but all in all bloody nice one and nice bunch of blokes I must say even though I know them pretty well now – keep an ear out for these boys as the energy and commitment will see them getting more shows as we support the boys fully.
Next up The Irrits ..yes punk yes rock yes they are good ...a lot of funny songs with good lyrics and tight tunes. The crowd was up there singing their songs which I thought was great to see for them –they have been playing in the local scene for a while now and due to that have got a few fans supporting the boys ... Johnny –singer/guitar - friendly guy who likes to keep the crowd entertained and was at the pub till the end up there moshing to the other bands—good one !
Next up Kombi Killers. As this is my band which I play guitar with back up vocal’s ..well I must say a lot of energy and the crowd was involved up the front moshing and singing away with the classic’s from the KK- horny drug song and shit on your mum—nice …saying that I struggled with the sound on stage ..found it hard to hear the bass and vocal’s but from the crowd response was all good they could hear everything so oh well that’s all the counts so yep KK’s going hard, playing hard and Steve’s vocal’s strong and myrtle place up there on stage singing a few with steve- good to see! As always Johnny-Myrtle’s singing law with mr Steve-o ... I won’t say much more until someone else can review us for their entertainment - LOL…
Next up DMS Punx. Well these guys been around for good time now and we’ve played a lot of gigs with them over the last year and what else could I say but fuckin’ great music—so much punk going on and fast beats from Scotty-drummer and Matt and Josh - great blokes with good taste in music …in your face punk music with angry lyric’s with hard riff’s –love this guy’s sound and look up to them for there support with the KK’s and Myrtle Place –we got a good mosh going on up the front,a lot of pushing and loving LOL ..but saying that yep great show and good jumping around with all the other Mosher heads going hard ..awesome !!! nice one lads …tight playing and no hold’s barred!!!! Long live DMS…
So as the night got late the Jon Experiment unleashed their sound ---and yes-metal yes-alternative and a lot of influences in there sound –hard to point out their style but who care’s... they rock! And bloody piss heads at that but that doesn’t stop them from fucking songs up as they could play in any state I reckon being the 2nd time I’ve seen them play ..as for the crowd by then everyone was juiced up and moshing hard in the mosh pit –real hard that DMS were keeping a eye on there speakers not falling over …good set and full of energy and more –guitar man on the lead nice work ..but as a band these guys really are fuckin’ good and great to see live –I recommend them as well as all the bands tonight to see asap for a bloody good night of carnage and corpses scattered everywhere in the mosh pit ..so coming to a end the whole night was a success in acts and entertainment as well as free to get in ---up to a hundred or so people showed up this night and was just bloody awe sum –thanks to all the bands and support at the P.O.W. on Friday
Signing off – Jason – Kombi Killers …r.i.p… |
