Khan fundraiser gig for US tour, Club Envy, April 17

Only my second time to the Masc Live Room at Club Envy, and hooray the lasers had been put aside for the evening and hooray cheap beers on special! There was a very decent sized crowd early on and solo artist Adam Scriven who is originally from the UK started us off with some slide guitar and didge. Very shmick toe tapping and easy listening.

More music lovers had flowed in when The Hayden Hack Infusion started their set. They turned up the funk a little more than last time I saw them and three skater guys jumped straight up for a dance. A mix of reggae-styled dance moves and shuffling? It was awesome! The floor filled up and I’ve never seen so many unique dancers from all styles combined in the one place, it was at times hilarious and so much fun.

When Khan, Rob and Johnny took the stage they blew us away as always. The sound and the lighting were immaculate. The enthusiastic eclectic group of dancers matched Khan's eclectic sound and passion. The highlights of Khan's performances for me is when he plays his Saz Guitar. It’s a great tribal infused dance floor track, and his song ‘Release My Eagle‘ is masterful story telling through music. Myself and many others are eagerly awaiting the release of his debut album.

As well as enjoying high quality live music it was the diversity of people at this venue and their open minded laid back attitude that really made our night. A night of dancing, new friends and shenanigans. If this Rootsy stuff isn’t your usual taste in music go check it out anyway your guaranteed good times.

And congratulations to The Floating Bridges for an awesome performance and huge crowd response at The Peregian Originals on Sunday! These boys are tight, their songs are very cleverly arranged, hooky as hell, easy to connect with and always a joy to dance to.
