MIA Entertainment present - Idle Theory, Desolution, Rob Stanley, Club Envy, March 26

I arrived just after Rob Stanley's set, just as Desolution were doing a quick sound check.

Judging from all the hand shakes and slaps on the back, Rob's set went down very well. Disappointed to have missed it, but we all know Rob shreds.

Desolution (from Brisbane) are keeping the metal heads happy. A quick scan around the room and it looks to be a pretty good turn out for another MIA Entertainment show at Club Envy. There's one guy right from the start that is getting into Desolution's mix of old school metal grunt/thrast style. He's a one-man moshpit, but he doesn't give a shit. Desolution are playing solid, the crowd digs them here, and no doubt we'll see more of them this year.

There's quite a few Idle Theory fans here tonight, and I've been looking forward to seeing/hearing them with a bigger sound system than the last time I saw them late last year. I stand by my claim that these guys are one of the Artists to Watch in 2010. As soon as the drums click in my better half leans over and says "I think the drummer's on speed," and she's not far off the mark because he's working bloody hard from the get go.
I still stand by my Pantera comparison I made about this band when I reviewed them last time. These guys bring the groove into their metal, and they sound nice and full tonight.

Vocalist Adam is a formidable force on stage, and top bloke off stage. The crowd's digging them, the band's having fun, and I'm pretty sure a couple of the guys down the front Got Their Faces Melted.

Devil horns, up, lads. The metal gods salute you.

Thanks to MIA Entertainment for persevering, and to Club Envy for shining a little hope back onto the heavy scene on the Sunshine Coast.
