Last night witnessed Dunsinane return to Kings Beach Tavern for their fourth time to entertain the crowd with their unique style of “old 90’s indie pop”. Dunsinane opened the show, supporting local heavy rock bands Tranzluzid and Temple Mount. They started their set with a “new one”, proving to be a big change from their regular indie-pop to a more ambient feel, full of reverb and delay. This however didn’t stop them from engaging with their crowd as usual and encouraging and convincing the many enthusiastic dancers, whether drunk or not, to stay for the whole set.
Dunsinane played a very entertaining show, with the lead guitarist managing to either intentionally or unintentionally knock the fold back off the stage, crack personal jokes and dedicate songs to the many friends that filled the floor and thank everyone after each song. Overall the night was a hit, with both Tranzluzid and Temple Mount playing equally impressive shows, and Dunsinane pulling a huge crowd despite the genre difference of the heavy rock that followed them.
Kings Beach Tavern is also hosting Battle of the Bands, where bands are competing for the opportunity to play at Caloundra Music Festival. Dunsinane is competing in the next Wednesday’s heat at the Tavern, playing at 10.30 pm.
In the short amount of time Dunsinane has been together they have already done extremely well for themselves. Being only one year out of school, Dunsinane has already secured themselves gigs at prominent Brisbane music venues and has already made a significant fan base for themselves on the Sunshine Coast. Dunsinanes next gig is at the Music Kafe in Brisbane next Monday night, a venue which aims to help out the local music scene by giving new bands the chance they need.
