Dead Letter Circus, Helm, Take Anthia, Club Envy, April 10

It's been a long day with the Homegrown festival, but I've managed to go home, have some dinner, shower, go through the footage of the bands, then make it down to good ol' Club Envy by 10pm.

This means that I've managed to miss local support Take Anthia. I'm told by Nathan from touring band Epidemic...Over that they were good, in fact, better than they were today (and I thought they were good at Homegrown!). One could draw comparisons to Placebo, with the tone of the singer's voice.

Gold Coasters Helm have returned to Maroochydore, and I swear they've gained an extra guitarist along the way. Their brand of progressive hard rock-border line metal is, to say the least, epic. Singer Lucas likes to take the audience on a rollercoaster of a journey, with metal chug and thrashy rock mixed in with the ambient parts. It's pretty full in here tonight, and I'm watching the punters sway to and fro to Helm's sounds.

There's still 15 minutes to go before dead letter start their set. Going through their set up and sound checks and there's already a sea of people gathered at the front of the stage. Pretty incredible, really.

Kicking off with This Life Awake, a great way to start the set. Only the truth can set you free.

Got side stage seats, with a superb views of drummer Licka doing his thing. it's mesmerizing, simply put. The combined rhythmic force of Licka and bassist Stew is just thumping, leaving guitarist Rob and vocalist Kim to utilise the higher ranges and bring the pace and ambience.

Are we closer? Fuckin oath. Love this song, and judging by the crowd, i'm not alone, as it's clearly sing along time.

The boys treat us with a newie, Big, which is exactly that in sound. If you are a member of Project Dead Letter, you wouldve most likely downloaded this on Friday. Great precursor for what's expected of their album in may.

If DLC are looking for a Reaction tonight, they've bloody well got one.

There's no Alien-ating the crowd tonight, as they lap up this massive, building song.

It's time to Disconnect and Apply, and just fuckin move to this song.

There's definitely no staring at the Space on the Wall tonight, with everyone following Kim's lead. A chorus of semi- drunken voices lapping it all up.

Here We Divide keeps the momentum going, such a huge, meaty song.

Take away these Lines.

Time to get Next in Line for some Aural pleasure. The band feeds off the audience for this pacey song, a brilliant way to end the set.

It's encore time.

There's a couple of The Butterfly Effect members milling side of stage.

The boys treat the crowd to one of their earliest songs, tremors to say goodbye.
Goodnight DLC, come back soon please!
