There's a new review up now on the blog on last Friday night's adventures in Noosaland for The Point when we caught Minor Elite, The Secret Silence and The Secret Whisper. Go have a read. Head to the Reviews page.
Floating Land is coming up this weekend, at the Apolonian Hotel in Boreen Point. On Sunday you'll catch Ash Grunwald, Hayden Hack Infusion, and The Flumes, plus more. Starts eary, and it's a day gig.
We now have The Secret Whisper's EP in our mitts, so we'll be getting a review up soon enough for these guys.
The Floating Bridges killed it tonight as support for Jimmy Barnes. Massive crowd for the boys. For a bunch of hippies, these guys are heading to rockstar status pretty quick.
The boys from Spiralsiren have released another tasty track. If you haven't heard them yet, click here to have a listen.
And in non-related news, Dead Kelly have released a new track to brutalise your ears. It's a lovely little ditty, with such a cute title - 'F*ck Off C*nt'. Not sure if this link will work, but try it anyway.

Warm your cockles (yes, we said cockles) tonight with some awesome live music ALL OVER the Coast. Go check the GIg guide if you haven't been paying attention.
Congrats to The Floating Bridges..AGAIN... for some more awesome news. Can't break it just yet, but these boys are flyin' right now.

The Point was hanging out at SolBar's Open Mic night last night. All you emerging musicians of age, we highly recommend you start going to nights like this or Originals Night at Pig'n'Whistle (which is tonight) and start talking to like-minded musicians. Met some amazing musicians last night.
Rumour has it that SolBar is starting up band showcase nights on Thursday nights. This will be giving up and coming bands a chance to show their stuff to peers and the venue. More info when we get it.
Awesome All Ages gig coming up on Saturday in Nambour town in the QCWA Hall (that's near the new town centre where the markets are) and will feature Hitting Home, Raise the Fallen, Hobo Magic, Spuhtnik, and We the Relentless. $10 Entry starting at 5pm. Go let go of all that pent up energy, kids.

Favourtism? No. The Point's proud of all of you Sunshine Coast muso's, regardless of genre... but the way these boys have been going lately, we are extremely proud of The Floating Bridges and their achievements.
Head up to Noosa this Friday night at the Tewantin/Noosa RSL where Mic from Retribution/MIA will be gatecrashing A Family of Strangers' show to celebrate his birthday. Also on the night, catch Minor Elite and The Secret Silence. The Point's heading up there for a beer or two to help celebrate Mic's b'day.
Rivalry and Thievery are playing the SolBar this Saturday night with Pigeon. As per usual on Saturday nights, SolBar gets pretty packed out, so be sure to get there early.
The Point HQ has been drenched in the sound of Dead Frogs of late. Fans of 90s Sludge metal with hints of militant punk will dig these guys. We'll have their profile up soon. Some of their material is reminisent of early Mark of Cain. Totally not what we expected.
Kings Beach Tavern is putting on a classic night of punk/rock goodnes featuring Dementia 13 and more. Poster on the Upcoming shows section, plus info on the gigs page.
The Point has had a secret listen to the brand new singles from Kindread. You'll have to wait till these come out.

Good luck to The Secret Whisper kids launching their debut EP tonight at The Zoo in Brisbane!

The Point crew are heading to the SolBar to help celebrate Dimi's birthday in style... come and say g'day (we won't be hard to miss), and catch Cheap Fakes, Darky Roots and One Dread.
Eumundi Live tomorrow from 10am with Kindread, The Floating Bridges, The Marsden Lees and more... this continues on Sunday with an equally stellar line-up.
Congrats to the boys from DLC on their recent US signing... and now with US and UK dates coming up. Awesome stuff.
Word on the grapevine that there's some big things happening for The Floating Bridges in coming months... can't give away too much, but we know it involves a Single Launch, and one massive gig (apart from the obvious JBT one on Sunday) with a band they look up to. More in later days.
Don't forget.. drummers... Spiralsiren are looking for THE suitable skinsman to keep up. Keep sending enquiries to Rob Stanley. Details on the Wanted page.

Apologies for the site being down... but it's all good and we're back in business.
Big weekend of music coming up, starting tonight with Original Night at the Pig'n'Whistle with Raven's Fire and Adam Scriven. It's free and starts from 8pm.
Tomorrow night, if you want your blues nice'n'stompin', head to Kings Beach Tavern to catch Transvaal Diamond Syndicate, Cleveland Blues & The Red Eye Junction, Revolution Sunday, and Andrew Baxter from 7pm.

Those brave, crazy kids from The Secret Whisper are launching their EP tomorrow night at The Zoo in Brisbane. These guys are the sh*t when it comes to self-promotion (hence the banner). We'll be checking out their debut EP soon, but we highly recommend you go and join them.

And we're back.
Big day at Nambour Originals today with the phenomenal Monique Brumby mesmerising Mother's Day crowds, before Those Old Soles and The Floating Bridges shook things up a bit. Once again, massive kudos to Dan Lyons and crew for putting on this event... remember to support it and donate what you can.
Both The Floating Bridges and Kindread have new singles coming out in July, (launching within a week of each other), so we may have some teasers coming our way soon.
Reports from Kelstar say that Friday night at the SolBar with Marshall and the Fro went absolutely off, as did the following night with Wild Marmalade. Great to see the Coast support live music again, but don't forget there's great venues like Joe's Waterhole (see the front page, bottom right column for links), KBT, Villa Noosa... go and enjoy.
The Point HQ should have our hands on a copy of The Secret Whisper's EP to review soon enough.
Don't forget, Sound Support is this weekend. Massive event raising funds for the victims of the QLD Floods, with John Butler Trio, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Floating Bridges and more. Tickets still on sale.

Review now up thanks to Wade, on the SolBar Hip Hop Explosion last Saturday night. (*Apparently he got some of the acts mixed up.. guess it was the free drinks he kept scoring from Point fans - Ed)
Also, the review is now up on Cleveland Blues & The Red Eye Junction's single launch last Friday night.
Coming up this week, the SolBar has some awesome acts, such as Marshall and the Fro, and Wild Marmalade. Our tip? Get tickets early to avoid the whole line-up shindig. You can get them from the venue.
Open Mic sessions on this Wednesday night at SolBar, and Originals Night at Pig'n'Whistle on Thursday night. More and more people are taking advantage of the free nights of music now, so that's awesome to see.
Kindread's new singles are just about finished. They'll be down in Byron Bay this week doing a few shows and mixing at Studio 301, and should have the mastered copies back next week. We might try and leak a snippet in the near future.
Some very cool punk/hardcore/metal shows coming up in the next few weeks, so be sure to keep an eye on the Gigs guide.
It's rumoured that Nambour Originals, this Sunday, will not only feature guest performer Monique Brumby, but also The Floating Bridges... and whispers that Those Old Soles could be playing as well. Guess you'll have to head down to Quota Park in Nambour on Sunday afternoon and find out (assuming it's not bloody raining that is).
The Point has heard snippets of a new alt/prog/rock band in the works, featuring a mixture of well-known Coast musos. Can't reveal too much other than that the material we have heard is, for lack of a better word, epic.
