The Point's podcast for this week is now up. Forever March are working on a brand new song, which they should have finished tomorrow, entitled Sinner to Surrender.
The Point welcomes Dunsinane to the band database. Go check out their song Mangoes.
27/08/09
The Point has discovered another great Sunshine Coast band, Dunsinane, bringing an alternative Pop sound to the forray. You can catch these guys at Brisbane's Bar 388 on September 6th as they do a showcase. Panda Panda Panda have a mental gig up ahead on the Gold Coast at the Miami Tavern on October 9th from 8pm. Entry is $10 and they are playing with Torn Asunder, Fields of Truro, and Sunshine Coast metal legends, Signal the Firing Squad (if you haven't seen StFS yet, check out their interview with Pine Cone Throat).
Next Friday night at the Sands Tavern, Grand Atlantic are playing, supported by The Vagrant City Scandal, and The Marsden Lees. The Point will be checking this one out, and so should you. Doors open 7pm.
This week's podcast should be up later tonight as well, with this week focusing on Sunshine Coast musicians that have had to move elsewhere to hone their craft. Should be an interesting episode.

24/08/09 The Floating Bridges are proud to announce that they will be playing at Perigian Originals on Sunday the 4th of Cctober with Oka.
The Point has heard rumblings of a young band from Noosa called Morning Gloree who have cut an EP, and are impressing audiences with their talent up on the North Coast. Stay tuned as The Point will follow this up. Had to add this one - Alternative music news website, Killyourstereo.com have put up 'breaking news' of Blessed By a Broken Heart's announcement of local supports for the Canadian band's upcoming tour, including the Black Box in Nambour. The funny thing is, The Point knew about this a whole week ago...that's got to feel good. By the way, if you didn't already know, the bands supporting Blessed By a Broken Heart/Shadows Chasing Ghosts/Mourning Tide here on the Sunshine Coast are Wingspan, Panda Panda Panda, and Forever March.
23/08/09 The Ailment are unleashing their EP this coming Saturday night in Brisbane. See the shows page for more details.
Looks like the Currumundi Pub hosting the Toe to Toe show last night was a success. Let's hope they keep things going and get more bands, both local and national playing there. Want to see more venues on the Sunshine Coast putting on live music? Then start supporting the venues by showing up to the gigs and show them that it's worth putting on.
22/08/09 Rite of Passage and Dementia 13 support Toe to Toe tonight at the Currumundi Pub. Head on down to that. Forever March have released new merch, so check out their myspace to see what they have for FM fans.
Tweed Heads are getting a dose of The Ailment tonight, so The Point hopes that down South they're ready for some Sunshine Coast Deathcore goodness.

enjoy watching Licka from Dead Letter Circus play to their new track, The Space on the Wall.
Week 3
21/08/09
Apologies about the podcast. It seems that during the upload of this week's podcast, it now only plays 3/4 of the interview with Licka. We're re-uploading the full version now, and if it still hasn't loaded properly, keep refreshing the page. UPDATE:
Looks like we've got gremlins on the server. Don't know what's happening, but if you want to hear the FULL podcast (without it stopping abruptly), just download the mp3 to your desktop, as that seems to play OK.
20/08/09

16/08/09
The Point just read a pretty good review for ex-Sunshine Coast band The Scare's album, oozevoodo in the latest Rolling Stone. However, the reviewer seems to have the Sunshine Coast mixed up with the Gold Coast (something about swapping gold bikinis and shopping malls for the dreary Birmingham lifestyle?). Now if only Rolling Stone would pay attention to a lot more of the Sunshine Coast's acts, then we would be so much happier.
Deathcore quartet, The Ailment will be launching their EP, Evolution into Apocalypse on August 29 at Brisbane's Top Floor in Elizabeth Street. This looks to be the same bill that has Horizons of Chaos, Among the Vanished, Swimming with Sharks and more on it, so if brutal sounds are your thing, you don't want to miss this.
15/08/09
Former Sunshine Coast sound guru, Tonksy will be bringing up Rincon from Melbourne to play the Kings Beach Tavern on August 21.
If you like Rook, you'll love the Rincon boys.

Drawcard will be supporting My Name 4 Your Name (NSW) and Her Carlisle (QLD) tomorrow night at the Sands Tavern. Ablaze Withsin's new EP, produced by Matt Shorter of RTD Studios will be coming very soon. Looking forward to that one, particularly from the tracks we've already heard on their myspace.

Ultimate Blues duo, The Blackwater Fever are playing East Brunswick Club, Melb Sat 15th and The Pelly Bar, Frankston VIC Sun 16th (this weekend), and Tom Cooney will be playing the Curtin Band Room in Melbourne on Friday 14th August. Sunshine Coast street mag, Tsunami contacted The Point today, and the two forces will be working together to promote the local music the Sunshine Coast has to offer, as we all know that we produce phenomenal talent up here that needs more publicity. Woooo! Sydonia (who will be on tour with Dead Letter Circus soon) will be added to The Point shortly. These guys have supported Slipknot and were invited to tour with Stone Sour in the US.
