19 yr old Indie Artist Andrew Redford is a multi-instrumental Singer/Songwriter from Cotton Tree on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
At 16 (2008) he entered the ISC, but it wasn’t till 2009 when ‘City’ was a Finalist with Honorable Mention that he discovered ‘Heart of Love’ had been a semi-finalist the year before. That same year saw him win the Secondary Schools Category of QSong. 2010 Andrew was a finalist in QSongs Rock section with ‘51’. On the same evening he was rewarded with The Billy Thorpe Scholarship, a music scholarship providing funds for recording and meetings with Michael Chugg (Chugg Entertainment) and Stu McCullough (Amplifire Music). Through Michael a meeting was set up with Sebastian Chase (MGM) who shared generously his advice on the music industry.
Seb’s advice resonated with Andrew who is best described as the quiet achiever who knows where he’s going and is determined to arrive there in one piece. Receiving Song Writing recognition in Aust, the US, France and the UK, has allowed him to slowly accrue an online fan base. With a laid back and unique style his influences are many and include artists such as Dylan, Coldplay and Death Cab For Cutie,
Review by Mardi Lumsden “the beach vibe certainly washes its way into his music. It’s the sound of someone not trying to be anyone other than himself, which is refreshing for someone so young. Andrew is clearly exploring his style and song writing. His songs range from folk ballad to pop and surf to rock. No doubt whichever way he decides to head he will be rewarded and so will his fans.”
