Take a dash of Ash Grunwald.
Stir in a few pinches of John Butler Trio.
Mix in with splash of Robert Johnson.
Combine with a generous serve of healthy musicianship and tight grooves.
Best served raw.
Those Old Soles are a tight-knit three-piece band featuring 3 seasoned
Sunshine Coast musicians that, combined, have roughly 30 years experience
playing in bands all over the Sunshine Coast.
Guitarist and songwriter Rohan Nitschke (The Floating Bridges, Technical
Symplicity) started performing his raw, groove-laced blues at venues such
as the Music Kafe in West End in Brisbane, steadily gaining a reputation for
providing some good ol’ foot stomping blues.
The beginning of 2010 sees Rohan recruit his brother Cale Fisher (frontman
for The Floating Bridges) onto the drumkit, and Technical Symplicity bassist,
Rhys Fox (also the editor of The Point Sunshine Coast, one of the fastest
growing, independent websites for Sunshine Coast music), to fill out the
backbone and become Those Old Soles.
Providing a new slant on Rohan’s already popular groove-fused blues/roots,
the trio are also known for some blistering overs, and tasty blues jams,
with a lot of the songs never sounding exactly the same twice.
In its short time, Those Old Soles has already stirred up interest from fans
and venues in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and will be one of the artists
to watch this year.
