Stitches has risen from the ashes of its own spectacular implosion with a renewed musical perspective, creating a rich spectral quilt of stitched together soundscapes and evocative, detuned space rock/metal.
Formed in 1999, Stitches grew from a 3 piece experimental outfit into a tightly focussed quartet before separating less than 18 months after their
inception. One 4 track e.p and a number of high profile support spots (Unwritten Law, The Brown Hornet, The Butterfly Effect & The Bird) were positively received by music fans and critics alike.
Stitches became known for their own brand of sci-fi/trance/metal utilising innovative effects, unusual time signatures, eerie sci-fi atmospherics and dynamic composition techniques.
Evidence of Beau Deeley and Jeff Horder's commitment to the exotic sounds of Stitches was evident when they regrouped some months later and began working on a stripped down, electronically enhanced version of Stitches. While Beau Deeley completed university, Jeff Horder played drums for Brisbane band (Sub Inc) who are the closest living descendants of the original Stitches lineup. November 2005 saw planets and schedules align, bassist Barry Snook was rescued from a perpetual trance and work began on a set comprising new and old songs.
Stitches continue to defy accurate description. Each song is its own exotic masterpiece, with no two songs bearing a even a passing resemblance. Stitches continue to push boundaries, forging their own path and exploring unchartered musical territory and actively pursuing the evolution of music in all its varied forms.
