Alternative Night tonight at Hotel Maroochydore. Tonight from 8pm, catch Diamond Trade, Lucy Hannah, and Josh Deevle & Papas Pedal Steel Band all for free. These nights are getting popular, so get in and support a very worthy night of free entertainment.
The Point welcomes singer/songwriter Kelsie Rimmer to the Bands Database. Though only 18 years old, this talented singer has been playing for a few years now and is another great example of the wealth of songwriting talent on the Sunshine Coast. Check out her profile here.
Another All Ages show coming up next month at Price St Hall featuring No Mercy Marg, The Ailment, Sienna Skies, and All My Friends at Sea. There's heaps of All Ages shows happening at the moment, including some that MIA Entertainment are putting on at the Black Box, so for all you under agers, there's no excuse at the moment.
So, yeah, who saw a sneaky bit of marketing in the Sunshine Coast Daily's free The Guide lift-out today? Seems that one of our reviewers and Technical Symplicity frontman, Wade, got a The Point shirt noticed in those random pics that get taken on the night. Nice one, brother! Have a look here.
Huge weekend of music coming up -
Tomorrow night at the Villa Noosa, Technical Symplicity, The Minor Elite and touring band Mofo is Dead are playing FOR FREE from 9pm. Rumour has it that Technical Symplicity might be trying something new as a bit of a treat, since they haven't played for a while.
If not at the Villa, then head to Kings Beach Tavern EARLY (hint hint) to witness Fire Driver, Locavore, Templemount, and Bundaberg's Soothsayer, plus a surprise early performance. Can't say anymore than that other than get there at 7pm.
Saturday night, the mighty Rob Stanley returns to Club Envy with special guests Tranzluzid, Morning Gloree and Gold Coast's The Cilikis Progressio Project.
If you're heading down to Brisbane, go to West End and help celebrate The Music Kafe's 3rd Birthday with the likes of The Floating Bridges and more.
On the Gold Coast, Drawcard will be playing with Misdirection and Epidemic...Over at the Miami Shark Bar.
Big weekend of Rock, particularly if you're bummed that you're not at Splendour in the Grass (good luck to The Outlook with Mr Boinkin playing on Sunday). Drawcard have released a teaser trailer for their upcoming DVD, which can be seen below.
And don't forget to keep pushing the Triple J Unearthed Sunshine Coast bands list! It's been getting results (apparently).
The Point is looking for contributors. Want to go to a local gig and tell people how awesome it was? Well, we want to hear about it. Hell, if you're going to be a regular contributor (a couple of shows a month), we'll give you a free The Point shirt to wear at the shows so people know who you are. Contact the editor -
